Respool

Find your way back into a Claude Code conversation.

Every session on your Mac, searchable in milliseconds and one keypress from being reopened.

Free. macOS 15 or later. One email, no list, no follow-up.

The Respool search panel floating over the desktop, listing five recent Claude Code conversations with the prompt each one opened with.
17,691 transcripts and 2.7 GB indexed on the Mac this was built on.
12 ms from keystroke to ranked results, measured against that whole corpus.
4.7 s for the first full index. Every launch after that re-checks only what changed.
The Respool window: a list of conversations on the left, and on the right the transcript of one of them with a Launch in Claude button.

Read it, then pick it up where you left off.

Filter by project, date or category. Read the whole conversation properly, including the ones too long to open anywhere else. Copy a code block exactly as it was written.

Return reopens the conversation in your terminal, in its own project folder, because that folder is how Claude Code finds a session again. Respool watches the launch and tells you if it did not take.

One shortcut, from anywhere.

Press it over your editor, your browser, anything. Type a fragment you remember: an error string, a function name, a folder. Escape puts the keyboard back exactly where it was.

Titles, if you want them.

A conversation is filed under the folder it ran in, which is not much to go on. Respool can ask your own claude for something better: one call per conversation, cached forever, and long sessions split into topics that are titled separately.

It measures the cost on five real conversations before it will run a full pass, and it will not spend anything you have not agreed to.

A real title

What the conversation was actually about, instead of a folder name.

A description

One line, so a list of forty is something you can skim.

Categories

Folders you own in Documents, hand-editable, with keywords that sort a conversation for free.

It reads your history. It never writes to it.

Drag it to Applications and open it. It has no Dock icon: look for the mark in the menu bar, and a walkthrough opens on the first launch. Reopening a conversation and the optional titling need Claude Code; indexing, searching and reading do not. It keeps itself up to date, and you can turn that off.
